The Language, Resistance, Theatre project emerges from a successful pilot series of workshops in 2015 for English language-learners. The workshops brought together theatre and language experts who combined the Theatre of the Oppressed with language development. ESOL teacher-researchers based in London and Bristol are currently testing these methodologies in 12 ESOL classrooms. The outcomes of these six-week classroom based trials will include reflections from language-learners and teachers. Launching in March 2017, the results will be compiled into resource materials that are illustrated by comic-book artist Nicolas Vass and will be made available for ESOL teachers across the UK.
